Arthur “Artie” Sheehan, 78 of Brielle passed away on Saturday July 23 at Ocean Medical Center with his wife by his side. He was born and raised in the Park Slope Section of Brooklyn, NY and graduated from St. Michael’s High School and St. John’s University. Artie was a proud member for 8 years in the Army National Guard. He lived and worked in Manhattan for many years. There he was manager/bartender for several popular restaurants like Mr. Laughs, Duncan’s and Runyon’s to name a few. He was also an owner of Jane Street Seafood Café in Greenwich Village, NYC. Artie moved to New Jersey in 1990 and was the owner of Evelyn’s Restaurant in Belmar, NJ. After his career in the restaurant industry Artie became and insurance broker for Links, Belmar for almost 20 years.
Artie is survived by his wife of 37 years Jane (nee Douress) Sheehan of Brielle; a brother Robert Sheehan and his wife Pat of Beaufort, SC; a sister-in-law Mary Ann Sheehan of Richmond, VA and a sister and brother-in-law, Helene and Robert Morlan of The Villages, Florida. Artie is also survived by a niece Christine Sheehan Villagra and two grandnephews Gabriel and Caleb.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday July 26 from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday July 27 at 9:30 am at St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt. Cremation will be private.
