Arleen Beatrice Wood-Schwartz, 98 of Wall, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Arleen was born and raised in Caldwell, graduating from Caldwell High School. She lived most of her life in Brielle on the river, which she loved. Arleen spent her winters in Deerfield Beach Florida. Arleen was a model, an artist, and a bookkeeper for her husband’s company, the Richard I. Wood agency in Manasquan, but most important to her was being a mother. She loved and was devoted to her children. She was especially proud of her Scandinavian heritage. Arleen was a member of St. Uriel’s Church, the Manasquan River Artist’s Guild, the Scandinavian club, and the Brielle Yacht Club. She loved to travel, and she traveled extensively throughout the world. She also loved music and dancing. She loved to entertain and celebrate events and she recently celebrated her 98th birthday with her entire family.
Arleen was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Paula Cederberg, her sisters Doris Guyot and Eurnice Moss, her first husband Richard I. Wood, and her second husband Maurice Schwartz. She is also predeceased by, her son in law Thomas Waltsak, her grandson Richard “Ricky” I. Wood III, and her granddaughter Taryn B. Waltsak. Arleen is survived by her son Richard I. Wood II, his wife Nancy and their children, Lois Anne Wood Desiderio, Scott J. Wood, Craig Wood, Lisa Wotherspoon, Tracy Sferes, and Jessica Wotherspoon and her former daughter- in- law Lois Wood, her son Robert S. Wood and his wife Trudy and their son, Robert S. Wood II and their daughter Lisa D. Smith, her daughter Barbara Waltsak-Burkard and her husband Thomas and their children, Thomas G., Todd D. , Tyler A, and Travis G. Waltsak, Britt T. Waltsak-Gill, Deborah Berrien, and Jonathan Burkard, her daughter Donna A. Dunn and her husband Alan and their children Courtney E. Odermatt and Kendra B. Shanahan, and her daughter Deborah D. Hannah and her husband Richard Marcolini and their children, Christopher and Jessica Marcolini, and 23 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
Friends and family may attend the visitation on Thursday October 27, 2016 from 7 to 9 pm at the Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 11 am at the Orender Family Home for Funerals. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle. In lieu of flowers donations to the Church of St. Uriel the Archangel, 219 Philadelphia Blvd. Sea Girt, NJ 08750 or The Salvation Army, 605 Asbury Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ 07712 would be appreciated.
