Janet L. Sherman, 76 of Brick passed away on Wednesday March 1, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick with her family by her side. Janet was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in the West Belmar Section of Wall Township where she resided from 1951-2005 before moving to Brick. She was a graduate of Manasquan High School and Ann May School of Nursing. She was a Labor & Delivery nurse at Pt Pleasant Hospital and then office manager for Pineland Associates, Brick until her retirement in 2011. Janet was a Past Grand Officer and Secretary of Ocean Chapter #214 Order of the Eastern Star, member of Wall Chapter #143 OES and past Royal Matron of Charity Court #38, Order of the Amaranth. She was an advisory board member of the Holly Assembly #56 and past advisory board member of Iris Assembly #31 Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She loved to sing and participated in numerous concerts and choir festivals throughout the Jersey Shore area. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Belmar. Janet most importantly loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Janet was predeceased by her husband of 43 years John D. Sherman, her parents Robert and Lillian Loper, her grandson John Field Sherman and her brother Robert Loper, Jr. She is survived by her children and their spouses David and Dawn Sherman of Brick, Brian and Melissa Sherman of McHenry, IL and Andrea and Daryl Bauter of Wall. Janet is also survived by ten grandchildren Jessica, Zachary, Conor, Trevor, Gabrielle, Nora, Kyle, Kelsey, Ashley and Nicole; two great grandchildren Kaeden and Mia; a sister Marilyn (Joe) Miller of Rockwell, NC, a sister-in-law Mary Sherman of Wall and many nieces and nephews. Tuxedo, her cat, will also miss her lap and strokes of love.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday March 6, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan. An Order of the Eastern Star service will begin at 7 pm. A Funeral Service will be held 11 am on Tuesday March 7, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church 600 13th Avenue Belmar, NJ with interment to follow at Atlantic View Cemetery in Manasquan.
