Obituary for Arthur R. Smith

Arthur R. Smith, 85 a lifelong resident of Wall Township passed away on Monday April 10, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune with his family by his side. Arthur and his wife has been a resident of Allenwood for over 56 years. He was a graduate from Manasquan High School and was a member of the Carpenter’s Local 2250 for over 48 years retiring at the age of 65. Arthur was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the West Belmar United Methodist Church. Arthur was more than an avid gardener. He loved tending to his tomato plants which yielded him plenty of tomatoes which he graciously shared with many people. Arthur also had several bee hives and animals on his family enjoyed caring for. Family was very important to him and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Arthur was predeceased by his infant son James Robert. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Vera (nee Pemberton) Smith of Wall; a daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Richard Newman of Wall; a son and daughter-in-law Doug and Peggy Smith of Wall. Arthur is also survived by four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two sisters and their husbands Beverly and Bob Robbins of Ocala FL. and Darlene and Tony Spohn of Key Largo, FL.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday April 14 from 2-5 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home 9:30 am on Saturday April 15. Interment will follow at Glendola Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to FoxChase Cancer Center 333 Cottman Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19111. To send condolences to the family please visit www.orenderfamilyhome.com.
