Jacqueline Cavanagh,83, lifelong resident of Belmar and a 20 years resident along with her husband of Hernando, FL. passed on Thursday the 4th of May under the loving care of Hospice of Citrus and her family.
Born June 28, 1933 in Bloomfield, NJ, the daughter of Nelson and Mary Jacobus. Jackie was an active member of her community. Serving for years as both a volunteer and secretary of the Ladies Aux. of the Belmar Goodwill Hose Company. She was a member of the original Saint Patrick's Day Parade Committee of Belmar, NJ in 1973 and was honored for her many contributions when she was named Deputy Grand Marshall of the parade in 2013. Prior to retiring to Florida she worked as a veterinary assistant.
Jacqueline loved her family, travel, good food, card games with friends, and lit up any room she entered.
Jacqueline was predeceased by her daughter Erin Cavanagh. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Eugene J. Cavanagh, Sr. She is also survived by her daughter Kathy Marr and her husband Donald of Bedford, VA; her son Eugene "Chip" Cavanagh, Jr. and his wife Patty of Lake Como, NJ; her daughter Peggy Needham and her husband Terry of Warrensburg, NY; her daughter Eileen Macconchie of Wall Twp, NJ; her daughter Patti Blaney and her husband Timmy of Wall Twp, NJ; and her daughter Shannon Blackman and her husband Scott of Wall Twp, NJ. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a “Celebration of Life” service from 1-4pm Saturday May 13 at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan.
