Obituary for Dorothy C Streilein

Dorothy C. Streilein, 95 of Lakewood passed away on Thursday July 13, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick with her family by her side. Dorothy was born and raised in Long Island City, NY and raised her family in Middle Village, NY and lived there with her husband for over 70 years. Dorothy was an active communicant of Resurrection Ascension Church. She was a Eucharistic Minister and along with her husband George they operated a homeless shelter for many years at the church. Dorothy also volunteered at local nursing homes. She was a switchboard operator at the Schubert Theater and also worked as a salesperson for 25 years at Macy’s, Queens, NY.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband of 74 years, George Streilein of Lakewood; two loving sons and their spouses Richard and Susan Streilein of Brick and Robert Streilein and Linda McKeegan of Stockton, NJ. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Kaitlin (Nate) McClelland and Brian Streilein and a great granddaughter Quinn. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and three brothers and two sisters.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday July 17 from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am on Tuesday July 18 at St. Martha’s Church 3800 Herbertsville Road Point Pleasant, NJ. Interment will follow at Brig Gen William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital PO Box 1000 Dept 142 Memphis, TN 38101.
