Mark Phillip Burney, 57, of Wall Township, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Mark was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He was born in Neptune and raised in Belmar. He graduated from Manasquan High School and Albert Merrill School in New York City. With his love of the water and entrepreneurial spirit he opened Ski West Water Sports in Key West, FL and Sunset Water Sports in Neptune, NJ. For over the past 25 years, Mark has been the proud owner of Shore Window and Door, LLC. Naturally gifted with his hands, he enjoyed fine wood working and classic car restoration. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and above all being out on the water with his sons and friends. As a life long fan of the New York Giants, he enjoyed attending games with his sons. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh of the Jersey Shore.
Mark was predeceased by his father Norman Burney. He is survived by his mother, Margaret (Monahan) Burney; his beloved wife of 21 years Sharon (Cooper); sons Jack, Matthew, and Patrick; sister Jeannine Helmer; brother Sean and sister-in-law JoAnn; aunts Wynn Barbato and Robin Cavaliere ; his nieces and nephews, Christopher Helmer and wife Erika, Melissa Monahan, Sean Burney, Richard (Rico) Burney, Emily Burney, Thomas Cooper, David Cooper, Brett Cody, and Luke Cody; great nephew Alexander Monahan; numerous cousins; and many life long friends. The stories told by many of Mark being there in their time of need are innumerable. Marks’s generous nature, sense of humor, honesty, kindness, loyalty and love towards his family and friends was what made him the person so beloved by many.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation Sunday December 17, 2017 from 12-4 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am on Monday December 18 at Church of the Ascension, Bradley Beach, NJ. Interment to follow at St. Anne Cemetery, Wall.
