Obituary for Gwendolyn H. Evans (Hall)

Gwendolyn H.  Evans (Hall)
Gwendolyn Hall Evans, 93 of Manasquan passed away peacefully after a
brief illness on January 19, 2018 surrounded by her family at Ocean
Medical Center, Brick, NJ. Gwen was born at the Ann May Hospital,
Spring Lake on January 12, 1925. She grew up in Maplewood and would
summer with her family in Sea Girt and Manasquan. In her youth she had
been a girl mariner. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1942
and attended Seminary College in Buena Vista, Virginia. She was a phone
operator for NJ Bell, worked for the family business at HT Hall and was
the owner and operator of The Storks Nest along with her husband Jack.
Gwen raised her family in Manasquan. Gwen was the past president of
Monmouth County Chapter of the Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital and a member of the
Deborah National Steering Committee. She was an active member of St.
Uriel’s the Archangel Church, Sea Girt, where she was a member of the
altar guild and taught Sunday School. In later life Gwen wintered in
Florida where she volunteered at several charitable events including fundraising at golf outings and
also at a local hospital. Gwen was an avid painter, expert knitter,
reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and an accomplished seamstress. She
shared her skills teaching everything from swimming to ceramics to much
more. Her love of travel took her to the far corners of the globe.

Gwen was predeceased by her husband John F. Evans, her parents Harold
and Edna Hall, her brother Harold T. Hall, Jr. and her grandson Eric
Scott Shibla. She is survived by her daughter Janice M. Shibla and her
husband Robert of Manasquan, a son William G. Newman of Manasquan; three
granddaughters Lara M. Shibla, Katie M Garrow and her husband Chris and
Evelyn Shibla; a grandson William D. Newman; five great grandsons Kyle,
Brayden, Jacob, Seamus and Owen; one great- great grandson Kyric;
sister-in-law Joan C Hall of New Paltz, NY and several nieces and
nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday,
January 23, 2018 from 4-8pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old
Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1pm
on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Church of St. Uriel the Archangel, 219
Philadelphia Blvd Sea Girt, NJ. Interment will follow at Greenwood
Cemetery, Brielle, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made
to Deborah Hospital Foundation PO Box 820 Browns Mill, NJ 08015. To
