Joseph Aloysius Duddy Jr. died peacefully on Wednesday, February 21st, 2018 at his home in Manasquan, NJ. After brief stops in several cities, they settled in Middletown, NJ where they raised their four children, Joseph, Sean, Brian and Arianne.
Joseph grew up in Brooklyn and spent most summers with his parents and four siblings in the quaint town of Lake Mohawk, NJ where they enjoyed their time on, in and around the beautiful lake. He was a standout track star at Brooklyn Prep and a top competitor in Three-Gaited Equitation, placing 3rd in the 1951 National Horse Show in Madison Square Garden. He studied civil engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, class of 1958, and was a member of Theta Kappa Phi fraternity.
A real estate developer, he partnered with Rachlin Properties for the better part of 40 years and developed many properties across the Midatlantic and beyond. He started his career with JC Penney, building stores as far away as Puerto Rico and, as part of the Revlon Cosmetics Company, oversaw the construction of their Global Headquarters in Edison, NJ.
His intellectual curiosity was insatiable and he loved speaking to people about their interests and passions. He also loved Vermont and spent almost every holiday with family and friends in his historic home in Manchester Village, Vermont. He was known around town and loved by all.
Most of all he was a family man. He loved his children and wife and gave everything he had to make his family happy and healthy. In his later years, his passion was his ten grandchildren. He adored them and showed tremendous love and friendship.
