Josephine Desmond, 80, of Tinton Falls passed away in her home on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 with her family by her side. Josephine was born and raised in New Brunswick and graduated from St. Peter’s High School. She married her husband Jerald Desmond in 1959 who was an officer in the US Army. They lived and traveled throughout the world and Josephine had the unique ability to make every house feel like home right away. She enjoyed being an administrative assistant at Ft. Monmouth for 15 years. Josephine and her husband wintered in Estero, Florida. She enjoyed boating, golfing, Mahjong, Bridge, Pinochle, Bocce Ball and most importantly, playing Trouble with her grandchildren.
Josephine is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Jerald Desmond; her loving children and their spouses; Joseph and Carol Desmond of Manasquan, Fran and Jim Conti of Belmar and John and Karen Desmond of East Windsor. She is also survived by her six cherished grandchildren; Jennah and her husband John Rihacek, Mark Desmond, Patrick Conti, Steven Desmond, Nicholas Desmond, Daniel Desmond and a great-granddaughter Shelby Rihacek. Josephine was predeceased by her parents John and Frances Dovi, a brother and sister-in-law Santino and Frances Dovi.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, May 29, from 9-10:30 AM at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM on Tuesday, May 29, at St. Denis Church, Manasquan, NJ. Interment will be at a later date at Brig General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
