Obituary for Joseph A. Howard

Joseph A. Howard
Joseph Anthony Howard of Wall, NJ, 79, left this world on June 13, 2018, 9 days short of his 80th birthday. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Joseph was born in Queens, NY, growing up in Bayside. He later lived in Flushing, Queens before moving to New Jersey, where he lived in Ridgefield Park, Lincoln Park, Montville, and, finally, Wall, where he was a 20-year resident. A graduate of St. Francis College, Joseph forged an established career as a comptroller for Allied Stores, Bonwit Teller, Harvé Benard, and Jersey Paddler. Joseph’s strong sense of community led him to be actively involved in making a difference. He formerly served as President of the St. Joseph’s Home School Association and member of the Board of Education in Lincoln Park, a member of the American Legion Division 5, Lincoln Park, and member of the Belmar St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. Joseph was also a committed member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelaghs of the Jersey Shore. He was an early adopter of personal computing in the 1980s, embracing new technology. He also loved the ocean and sailing.

Joseph’s robust life will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Karla (nee, Webber), daughters Jacqueline Howard and Jennifer McNulty (nee, Howard), son Patrick, sons-in-law Albert Cavallo and William McNulty, daughter-in-law Sharon Howard (nee, Aschoff), grandchildren Ashley, Zachary, Ryan, Chase, Sydney, and Eamon, brother Donald, sister Mary Siemborski, cousins Thomas McGrath, Vincent McGrath, and Elizabeth Colarusso (nee, McGrath), nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his mother, Viola Howard (nee, Burke), father Joseph Aloysius Howard, brother, Robert Howard, cousin, Francis McGrath, father-in-law William Webber, mother-in-law Mildred Webber (nee, Sullivan) and brother-in-law William Webber.
